These guitars have been expertly handcrafted by Filipino luthiers in RJ Guitars’ factory, originally set up and run by our Japanese partners—Deviser (STR, Momose, Bacchus guitars, among others).
​
Years ago, Deviser guitars from Japan were exploring different parts of Asia to expand their production. While other countries could make guitars, the Japanese found that there was something special about the guitars made by Filipinos; in their words, the guitars had “Tamashi?” or SOUL.

RJ Custom Shop Guitars combine over 80 years of manufacturing experience from both RJ Guitars of the Philippines and Bacchus guitars of Japan, fully harnessing the talent, ingenuity, and craftsmanship of Filipinos with Japanese discipline, know-how, and technology.

This guitar comes with RJ custom hand-wound pickups, developed through 25 years of research and development. The essential components of these pickups are imported from the USA.
​
The pickups are also hand-wound in the Philippines and serve as the engine that drives this tone machine, which was hand-built to the highest Japanese standards.

The RJ SuperVintageâ„¢ is handcrafted by Japanese luthier Masayuki Takaesu in the Philippines to create guitars with second-to-none quality. Each guitar is created by human hands. The finest Philippine Mango woods are handpicked by our luthiers to achieve The RJ SuperVintage's superior tone.

Since 1988, I have been on a quest to find the Holy Grail of guitars, one guitar that can sound like 5 Guitars. I had gotten tired of having to shift from a Fender to a Gibson Guitar several times during a performance to fit the tone of the songs/tune I was playing.
I discovered the pick-ups had a lot to do with the tone. So I started using my own hand-wound pick-ups and experimenting with many kinds of magnets and magnet wires and different windings.
For some unexplainable reason, hand-wound pick-ups sound better than machine-wound. Some conjecture that handwinding creates an uneven spool which allows some air in between the magnet wires.
Through the years, I have perfected my hand-wound pick-ups to come close to the Holy Grail.
I also came up with a switching configuration that enables you to activate any of the 5 single coil pick-ups switching from humbucking to single and vice-versa at will and combining both.
RJ Guitars have been sold and accepted worldwide for 28 years. This is the first time I am marketing the Supervintage that is exactly the guitar I have been using all those years.
